

Sandy Goldman, aged 90, passed away on December 12, 2022. Beloved husband of Jennifer (nee Ash) for 38 years, proud father of Peter (Jessica), and loving grandfather of Kristen Dunn, Shoshana, Simon and Lev Goldman. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Lena (nee Sandroff), his sister Beila Goldman and his daughter Elizabeth (the late John) Dunn. Sandy attended the University of Chicago where he earned his A.B. and J.D. degrees followed by an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce. Sandy’s career in the investment management industry spanned over 60 years beginning at Stein Roe & Farnham, where he was employed from 1959 to 1981. He became a partner of Stein Roe in 1967. Sandy later established Goldman Asset Management, where for many years he advised both taxable and tax-free clients. In 2010, Sandy joined Front Barnett Associates as a senior portfolio manager and member of the investment committee, continuing to work until the time of his death. Sandy found great pleasure in his many and varied volunteer activities. He had served as: a Commissioner of the Chicago Housing Authority; a member of the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority Board; a Commissioner of the Illinois Medical District Commission; and a Trustee of the City Colleges of Chicago. In addition, he had been a Director of The United Way of Metropolitan Chicago and The United Way/Crusade of Mercy; a member of the Finance Committee of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago; a member of the Federation Advisory Board of Catholic Charities of Chicago; a Trustee of the Notebaert Nature Museum; a member of the Board of Governors, Smart Museum of Art; and a Director of the Arts Club of Chicago. Art lover, squash player, and a man who loved and was loved by his family.
