James Richard Adelman, 74 of Highland Park, Illinois. Beloved husband to Gail and stepfather to Mark (Michelle) Berman and their daughter Evie. Devoted son of Leonard and Selma of Chicago. Loving father of Brianne (Jason) Kosteba; proud grandfather of Vincent; caring brother to Gerald (Jennie) Adelman and their 3 sons, Andrew, Charles, and Nicholas and their 4 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Deborah Parks and her two children Adam and Tiffany and 1 grandchild.
Former lead trumpet player for the band Pendragon, Jim’s love of music and the arts most notably led him to tour across the country during the 1970’s. After marrying his first wife, Pam Hastings, and having his daughter, Brianne, Jim thought it best to plant roots. They built a life together in the south suburbs and northwest Indiana. He found work in the steel industry until he retired in 2019. By that time Pam had passed, and Jim found love with Gail exactly one year after. They were inseparable; you rarely saw one without the other. Together they were best friends, confidants, and learned to enjoy each other’s interests. They travelled, followed the Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks, enjoyed live concerts, and a love of dogs.
Celebration of life Monday, November 24, 11am at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091. Service will be livestreamed. Shiva will immediately follow the service until 4pm at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home.
