On Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, Jason Edward Michael O’Grady, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away at age 50 after a courageous battle with cancer. His positive attitude, generous spirit, and bright smile will be missed by so, so many. Most of all by “his girls,” loving wife Maggie and adoring daughter Molly.
Jason was born to Steve and Marsha O’Grady in Falls City, Nebraska. He always had a deep connection with his home state and so many fond memories of the early years he spent on the family farms. After Nebraska, the majority of his life was spent in Illinois—high school in Moline, college at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and his adult years in Chicago and Evanston.
Jason had a lifelong love of music. Talking about bands, going to concerts, and collecting records were a big part of his personality, and also part of how he connected with people. The same applies to art and design. After years of painting with acrylics, Jason developed a passion for screen printing and started Repeater Printing in 2013. His creativity will live on in the many prints that friends, family members, and others have hanging on the walls in their homes.
Jason spent his professional career in Media and Sales in the Pharmaceutical and Continuing Medical Education fields. Through work, he not only met his wife/partner/companion/love/everything Maggie, but also made many close friendships. He had an open personality, loved to laugh and tell stories, loved being surrounded by friends and family, and loved being a dad more than anything.
Jason will live on in the hearts of his wife Maggie, daughter Molly, dog Riley, parents Marsha and Steve, brothers Jeremy, Joseph, Jacob, and Jonathan and their families, three grandparents, so many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of his in-laws, and countless friends.
His wonderful spirit will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Chicago Botanic Garden. May his life and memory inspire us to live life well and to love and be loved.
