Jeffrey Heilbrunn was born December 28, 1950, the second child of Ruth and Leo Heilbrunn. He was a devoted and loving husband to Cheryl Tecktiel Kotsias, step father of Daniel (Abigail) and grandpa of Ezekiel, Judah, and Naftali. He was the loving brother of Judy Faitek and Bruce (Carol) and uncle of David and Sarah (Matthew) Norton and brother-in-law of Judy and Joel Bernstein. Jeff earned a B.S. in marketing from UIC and an MBA from Loyola. In 1972, he entered the corporate world which led to him serving as President of the National Safety Council from 1978 to 1985 and President of the American Marketing Association from 1985 to 1993. Jeff’s passion for teaching began in 1993 and lasted for the rest of his life. He was a popular and respected adjunct professor at Columbia College of Missouri, National Louis University, Roosevelt University and the Hebrew Theological College. He continued teaching until just a few weeks before he died. He received hundreds of letters in his final weeks from students thanking him and saying that he changed their lives. National Louis University established a scholarship to benefit needy students in his honor. Jeff lived in the Chicago area all his life and loved the White Sox and Bears. He was passionate about his family and just loved life. Graveside service Thurs, March 16, 1 PM at Oakridge Cemetery, Jewish section, 4301 Roosevelt Rd, Hillside, IL.
