Joanne Sandlow, née Fleischer, 88. Beloved wife for 64 years of the late Dr. Leslie J. Sandlow; devoted mother of Jay (Bridget) Sandlow, Bruce (Deborah) Sandlow, and Lisa (Douglas) Imber; proud grandmother of Samantha (Sean) Mackman, Jacquelyn, Rachel, Sarah, Natalie, and Haley Sandlow, Arielle and Jacob Imber; cherished great-grandmother of Sloane Mackman; loving aunt of Marjorie (Barry Rosen) Sandlow and Tom Sandlow; caring great-aunt of many.
Proud graduate of Sullivan High School and the University of Illinois. Member of Indeco House, where she developed lifelong friendships. Lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and fierce family woman. Active involvement in Israel Bonds, JUF, and the Crystal Ball. Took her job running the household seriously, by getting involved. An avid bowler, spent many Tuesdays at All Star Lanes in Skokie, Illinois. Played Mah Jong for years, passing her treasured set on to her daughter in law. Joanne was an early adopter of personal stock trading and managed her own portfolio. Active in the NTJC synagogue sisterhood and was fiercely loyal to Israel and Jewish affairs. After her soulmate passed away, she moved to North Shore Place where she was cared for by the wonderful staff. The family is grateful for all of their efforts to make her last days comfortable, as well as her previous caregivers. She will be deeply missed.
A funeral service is being held Wednesday, April 5th, at 9 AM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette, Illinois. Interment at Westlawn Cemetery.
