

Joseph D. Fargo, a 36 year resident of Wilmette, passed away at Evanston Hospital on Sunday, August 21, 2011 following an extended illness. Born in Chicago, IL, he attended Nicholas Senn High School, received a B.A. degree from Culver Stockton College, and served in the U.S. Army (Dial Central Office Maintenance Division), and in the Army Reserve until 1960.
Joe established a business, “The Woodworks” in Glenview and then followed that by teaching Junior High School in Evanston until his retirement from Chute Junior High School in 1989. He sang in the North Shore Choral Society for approximately twenty years, served on the local United Way Board for three years, and was an active golf player at Wilmette Golf Course for longer than his wife can remember.
Joe is deeply missed by his wife of 52 years, Romayne, and his three children, Gerald Fargo, Scott Fargo, and Susan Prosser. He is also missed by his grandchildren: Anna Fargo, Tyler Fargo, Chloe Prosser, Corinne Fargo, Sam Prosser, Gregory Fargo, and Bradley Fargo.
Memorial Services will be held at Winnetka Presbyterian Church at 1255 Willow Rd, Winnetka, Il on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
The family requests that in lieu of sending flowers, gifts be given to the American Lung Association, Chicago Botanic Gardens or Winnetka Presbyterian Church.
