Larisa "Lora" Zhizhin, 75, passed away on August 19th, 2023 after a unwavering fight against cancer. The truly rare combination of decency, determination, and inspiration, Lora leaves behind hundreds of colleagues, friends, students, and their parents with a profound loss of the ultimate inspiration to love life and music. Having a prolific music teaching career spanning 55 years in the former Soviet Union and her beloved Chicago, she has used music to encourage hundreds of students to develop a lifelong passion for the arts and reach their personal potential. A deeply devoted daughter, wife, mother, and mother-in-law, she was the brightest light of her family offering culinary brilliance, unlimited support, and profound guidance. Her international community of devoted friends adored her unwavering loyalty, uncanny capacity for sound advice, and ability to persevere through all challenges with dignity and grace. Her brilliant memory will live forever by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded by her parents, Dr. Lubov and Professor Mark Zinger, and her loving husband Nikolay Zhizhin. She was deeply devoted to her son Igor and daughter-in-law Flavia.
