Dr P during the illness of both my parents was a wonderful sounding board. His bedside manner with all the kids was hilarious with his thick accent the kids thought he was hilarious.  One my favorite memories he wrote an order (paper) for a nurse to revive a raise.  He and his others docs was definitely a golden ears of Shriners. Thank you Dr P for always being yourself 💖🙏 another great memory when he stopped smoking and didn’t tell us; it was a spicey time.

I was so lucky to have know Lev, Ricki and hear about the kids growing up. His compassion for the kids at Shriners, his leadership and guidance as he supported us as nurses will always be with me. May his memory be eternal.

I first met Lev when he interviewed for his job at UIC. He was in the process of adopting Marina and Sasha and moving to Wilmette for the schools. His devotion to family was my first impression of him. 
Lev was a great physician. As we passed critically ill children between us over so many years, it was seamless. I could depend on him to deliver the best care to these precious patients and their families. He hated any bureaucracy (of which there is much in academic medicine). He had no ambitions in academic medicine, but thrived at the bedside of a critically ill child. 
As we worked together, we became friends. We had great discussions of politics, international relations, finance and philosophy. He had a great intellect and wide ranging interests. We could argue with each other with respect. I treasured those discussions. We also often discussed his family.   I have heard all of the pride and worry about his family through the years. The pride always outweighed the worry. 
I have missed Lev since he retired. I am so pleased he had time to spend in a place he loved (no winters). I am also pleased he had time to spend with the most important people in his life - his family. 
I hope you find peace and joy that this amazing man was a part of your lives.

Lev was a skilled and devoted physician. He was always ready to do whatever was needed without hesitation. He had a gentle demeanor and provided unwavering support to his patients, families, and medical team. He made time to check in with staff and offer comforting words to families. For 22 years, he was a pillar of strength at Shriners Children's Chicago. Many people were affected by his kindness, generosity, and knowledge. We are lucky to have been able to call him a colleague and a friend.  He will always remain in our hearts and memories. Our deepest condolences to Ricki and the Podorovsky family.
