Martin Kelly Michel, 69, passed away peacefully February 12 in hospice care. Kelly, as he was known to family and friends, was a lifelong North Shore resident. He attended St. Francis Xavier grammar school, New Trier East High School and Southern Illinois University. Kelly proudly served with the U.S. Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) after high school. In later years he was a devoted caretaker to his mother and aunt in Glenview. Kelly is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Virginia (Kitty) Michel, sister, Catherine (Charles) Simonton, and brother, Terence Patrick Michel. He is survived by his brother, Roy, sister, Mary Patricia Michel, and extended family. A memorial service is planned, and burial will be with family in Calvary Cemetery.
