Marvin Herman

Marvin Herman passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at the age of 86, just one day shy of his 87th birthday. Marvin lived a life defined by creativity, curiosity, and impeccable style. A gifted architect, he had a lifelong passion for architecture and design, appreciating the beauty and craftsmanship found in both the grand and the intricate.

His interests reflected his extraordinary eye for detail from his remarkable collections of clocks and bonsai trees to his appreciation for fine cigars and high-end fashion. No matter the occasion, Marvin was rarely seen without a sport coat, carrying himself with warmth, confidence, and timeless elegance. Above all, Marvin cherished his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved twin brother, Burton Herman. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen; his loving daughters, Jacqueline (Steven) Chilow and Michelle Herman; and his treasured grandchildren Alex (Juliana), Daniel (Brigid), Lauren (Adam), Lucas, Natasha and 6 great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward his legacy of love, wisdom, and appreciation for life’s finer details.

Marvin will be remembered not only for his talents and passions, but also for the kindness, sophistication, and quiet strength he brought to the lives of those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed and his memory cherished always. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at North Shore Congregation Israel 1185 Sheridan Rd, Glencoe, IL 60022.
