Mary Jane Arnold

Mary Jane Arnold, 84, of Evanston, Jan. 30, 2012 at her home at Westminster Place after a brave battle with cancer. She was a life-long resident of the north shore of Chicago. Loving mother of Nancy (Marc) Files, John, and the late Robert. Beloved friend of the late Milton Colman. Mary Jane attended Evanston High School, class of 1945, and went on to Northwestern University. She was married to William L. Arnold, an attorney in Chicago. She also formed a memorial fund in memory of her husband, and raised more than $50,000 for the Over the Rainbow Assn., a living facility for disabled adults. Mary Jane had a life-long love of music, both opera and symphony. Her Irish laughter, love and joy were shared by all who knew her. Memorial service Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, 10:00 am, at the Elliott Chapel of the Presbyterian home, 3131 Simpson Street, Evanston, Il. 60201, with a reception to follow.
