

Born and raised in Ukraine, Michael was a man of profound intellect, resilience, and capability. In his youth, he proudly served in the military, utilizing his sharp mind as a tank builder and instructor. When he later immigrated to the United States, he brought that same remarkable work ethic with him, building a fulfilling career as a skilled auto mechanic. Michael was a true craftsman who loved working with his hands; he had a rare gift for understanding how things worked and could fix absolutely anything. Beyond his mechanical talents, he held a lifelong passion for math and science, always staying curious about the world around him.
To those who knew him, Michael was the definition of integrity. He was genuine, honest, fiercely loyal, and deeply trustworthy. Mike was incredibly organized and a creative problem solver with a sharp sense of humor that could bring a smile to anyone's face. Above all, he was exceptionally good-hearted, always giving his best to the people he loved.
Michael was the devoted husband of Polina for 59 wonderful years. He was the loving father of Irv (Jill) and Karina (late Robert), and the cherished grandfather of Sam and Emily. He is also survived by his dear brother, Mark (Rachel). Michael was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Solomon and Hasia, as well as his dear mother-in-law, Etya. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Michael’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, located at 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment will follow immediately at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Rd, Skokie, IL 60076.
