Minnie Wartell, nee Wolf, 96, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2023. She was born the daughter of Joseph and Rose Kirsner Wolf in November of 1926 in Chicago. In the mid-1930s, the family owned, operated, and lived in the back of a candy store in Lincoln Park. Minnie worked at the Chicago Tribune, starting as a copy girl and advancing to writer of a fashion column. She married her husband of almost 50 years, Lane Wartell, in 1954. Minnie was an avid cook and baker, a two-time Pillsbury Bake Off Finalist and editor of the Tribune's Weekly Food Guide during the 1970s. Minnie is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Paul (Michele), Ralph (Wendy), Ted (Sarah); grandchildren, Eleanor, Rachel, Blake, Taylor, and Clara; along with extended family and friends.
