Uncle Normy was an extraordinary man who put his heart into everything  he did and everyone  he connected with.  
The honor I feel that we were so close and spent so much quality time together will forever be cherished in my heart.  
What a beautiful gift I was given to have him in my life.  


From childhood foreword, my uncle Norman Buxbaum was a very special person. I know this first hand from my father Judge Gerald C. Bender whom Uncle Norm helped raise, showed the right way to live life, and how to treat other people with respect. Although it was an uncle/nephew, relationship, he was much more of an older brother to my father. 

Uncle Norm has always had a heart of gold, emense kindness, and great strength. He carred about his family deeply and is really an example to us all. 

I will miss you Uncle. 

I had the great pleasure to be of service to Norman while he lived at Mather Place. He was delightful, very polite, humble, funny, great storyteller,  proud Veteran of the Korean War and champion  jig saw  player and true blue Cubs fan.But the most fun was when his beloved alma mater Loyola University  made it to the NCAA Final Four this year. Norman also played on the Loyola basketball team 60 years ago ! Norman was on TV, in the newspaper during  the Rambler's memorable run. He was honored by Mather Place with special celebration that included cake , ice cream,  lots of laughs and great comaradie of of residents,  staff and family. You could say it was " Norman Buxbaum Day" I will miss him
