

Pamela R. Showalter-Blades died August 29, 2021 in Northfield, IL after a long illness. Born March 14, 1952, she was the daughter of Paul James and Eileen Blades (née Bauer) who raised her in Illinois.
After graduating from high school, Pam worked for Playboy Enterprises, Inc. at the Lake Geneva Playboy Club for many years. After leaving Playboy, Pam realized her dream of becoming a nurse and earned her nursing degree in 1984. She began a long career in substance abuse nursing at Martha Washington Treatment Center, Chicago Lakeshore Hospital, and St. Joseph's Hospital. She retired from nursing in 2019.
In 1986, Pam married her husband, Craig V. Showalter, M.D. They had one child, Paul James Showalter-Blades, now a Captain in the United States Marine Corps.
Pam is survived by her husband Craig, her son Paul, his wife Ni (née Zhang), and one granddaughter, Freya Hui.
Pam had a charismatic and outgoing personality. She was able to connect with people easily, and was quick to smile and laugh. She was a thoughtful and caring person, and she will be greatly missed.
Pamela's friends and family will gather Friday, September 3, 2021 from 12 Noon until 1:30 p.m., with a funeral service at 1:30 p.m., at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Ave, Wilmette, IL 60091. A committal service will occur Friday, September 3, 2021, 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9900 Gross Point Road, Skokie, IL 60076.
