Pearl Korey, née Polisky, of Highland Park, IL, born Chicago to Ida and Isadore Polisky, of her 93 years, she spent the majority of those with her long term boyfriend, and forever love and husband, the late Eugene, and raised a loving, adoring family. "I didn't do too badly for growing up a poor little girl who grew up in a back room of a grocery store," I was so blessed by filling my life with the gift of a great love and the joy of life. Missing her greatly are Irving (Vickie) Korey, Rhonda (Richie) Fried, née Korey, and Ilene Korey. Loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren Lindsay Lefteroff, Jillian, Madeline, Eleanor, Brian (Katherine) Korey, Ethan, Jacob, Corey (Katie) Kravitz, Brooke, Brody, Bailey and Briggs, Jennie (Will) Dermott, Shephard, Evelyn, Dan (Kai) Fried, Andrea Fried, and Jared Goldstein. Multiple adoring nieces and nephews. She was a kind and generous friend to many.
Pearl was a vivacious outgoing woman who adored her family and friends. After graduating Hyde Park High School, she completed one year of college before being swooped off her feet for marriage. She worked as a bookkeeper with her husband honing her keen organizational skills which continued to her last day. She volunteered at the library, was active with several temples and was President of the Bnai Emunah sisterhood, volunteered at other social causes, was an avid mahjong player, cook, voracious reader, and loved the beach. She had a beautiful singing voice if you were lucky enough to hear it.
Friends and family will gather for a funeral service for Pearl being held on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 at 2PM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette, Illinois. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Pearl's life, please consider donation to World Central Kitchen (wck.org), or the NIU Dr. Robert Peterson Scholarship (foundation.myniu.com/give.php), or to Macular Degeneration Research (brightfocus.org/macular).
