I am Mike Bobic, a friend of Dr. Tatalovich and a friend and former student of Dr.  T. Alexander Smith. Dr Tatalovich and I did some work together many years ago and I had just reconnected with your husband a few months before he passed. I'm deeply saddened by his passing. He was always upbeat and supportive of the work and trials this young scholar faced and I grew to appreciate his friendship and support.  I pray for you and your family.

I was an administrative secretary in the Center fior Urban Policy, directed by Ray in the 1980s.  He was one of a kind & I don't think he knew how remarkable he was.  I will never forget him. I just now became aware of his passing.  Sending warm thoughts to Anne.

I am a student from Loyola, class of 2001. I took multiple of Professor T's classes. He was amazing. So animated and passionate about his craft. I even realize that I have adopted some of his methods of speaking. This was unconscious I suspect but certainly as the result of admiration of his communication skills. I am sad to know I just learned about his passing. What a great guy.  A man for all seasons.

Ray was a friend and mentor, including me in his edited volume on moral controversies in American politics. I first met him at the Southern Political Science Association and after that, we checked in and caught up at other professional conferences. He was a ball of energy and knew how to “herd the cats” in academia very effectively. 

To persuade another colleague who was working with us on a co-authored paper to get his part done, Ray made the trek to Boone, NC and met with us.  With some more gentle prodding, we finally got the friends and neighbors effect piece published--thanks to Ray. 

He was a great man and motivated all those around him to be better.  
Ray, with his sense of humor and infectious enthusiasm, will be missed. I send my deepest sympathies to his family.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of beloved Ray. I cherish my memories of the brilliance and collegiality which Dr. Raymond Tatalovich displayed at American Political Science Association and Southern Political Science Association conferences. My students were fortunate when I taught "The Executive Process," and required John P. Frendreis and Raymond Tatalovich's THE MODERN PRESIDENCY AND ECONOMIC POLICY (1994) and Byron W. Daynes, Raymond Tatalovich, and Dennis L. Soden's TO GOVERN A NATION (1998). An indication of the good fortune of his students was the awarding to Dr. Tatalovich by PI SIGMA ALPHA of its Best Chapter Advisor Award (2014). 

I am deeply saddened by Ray's passing.  He was a great man with strongly-held convictions, and rock-solid professional ethics..  Ray was a wonderful friend and mentor.   He was one-of-a-kind.  There will never be another Ray Tatalovich.   As has been the case for many years, Ray is in my daily thoughts.  How  fortunate Ray was to have such a wonderful wife, Anne.   Ray--I miss you, my friend.

Ray Tatalovich was as generous, gregarious a fellow you will ever meet. Ray was my dissertation chair and a true mentor. I owe so much to him. He and his family are in my prayers. 

I was introduced to Ray by our mutual friend Byron (Bill) Daynes over 30 years ago, and our friendship deepened and endured over those years.  Ray and Bill were colleagues in graduate school at the University of Chicago, both students of Ted Lowi.  They were kind enough to include me among their friends and collaborators in research over the years.  Ray shared freely the findings of his work, and was always ready to provide valuable constructive criticisms of my own work  -- uniformly helpful and incisive.  Along with so many others, I will miss him and his unparalleled wit and keen mind.  RIP dear friend.  

Uncle Ray was the best!  I can't say how many times I have told stories about him.  He was larger than life and I treasure the opportunities I had to spend time with him.

I'm very saddened to hear of Ray's passing.  He was a  wonderful friend and a central contributor to the study of Canadian politics (among other things) in the US.  A prolific scholar, he continued working until the end of his life.  He is an inspiration to us all and will be deeply missed by many, including myself.  My sincere condolences to his family. 

My career overlapped with Ray's for a quarter century. He was a really funny guy, enormously curious, always energetic and highly productive. Ray understood student human nature pretty well, yet he drew crowds to his classes, even the early-morning Canadian Politics section. You won't find straight-talking professors like Ray in liberal universities anymore. That's a pity. God bless you, Ray!

Dear Anne,
We are so very sorry for your loss. Ray was an incredibly kind and caring friend, as well as a brilliant professor. We have been blessed to live down the street from you and Ray all these years, and we will always remember Ray for the many ways he extended himself to everyone on the block to show neighborly generosity. 

May you feel God's strength with you at this very difficult time. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
