Richard A. Roman died peacefully, surrounded by his family, following a long illness on September 20, 2025 at the age of 89. Richard was the beloved husband and sweetheart of Susan Roman for 64 years, son of the late Harriette and David Roman, brother of the late Melvin Roman, father to Jody (Peter) Gordon, Beth (Wes) Roman, the late Shelly (Philip) Abellera, and David (Heather Mekkelson) Roman, proud grandfather of Miles Gordon, Madeline Abellera, Charlotte Abellera, Zea Roman, Julius Frace, and brother-in-law to William (Laura) Shucart, and the late Janice Shucart.
Richard was best known for his sense of humor, his kind heart, his trustworthiness, integrity, honesty, morality, and, especially, for his love of family. He was a mensch!
His wide-ranging interests included photography, birding, cooking and baking, computer technology, motorcycles, reading, music, and plays.
Richard was born in Chicago and spent part of his youth in St. Louis, MO. He returned to Chicago to earn his BSBA degree from Roosevelt University. His career moved from manager of financial services to head of information technology departments.
