Bob and Flo traveled the world together, including in Europe, the Far East, Iran and Afghanistan. They had a special love of the American Southwest and for more than 25 years enjoyed a home in Santa Fe.
In 1945, Bob’s father bought the sailboat "The Little Rock", and a mutual passion for sailing was born, along with a deep bond. Bob continued to sail with family and friends until he was 80, exploring Lake Michigan, the Caribbean, the Florida Keys, and other islands.
Bob’s love of classical music began in 1937 when his second-grade teacher at Pierce Elementary School offered his class tickets to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He was smitten at first-concert and later was devoted to opera as well.
Bob was a long-time, committed board member for the Lyric Opera, Santa Fe Opera and Ravinia Festival. He was a trustee of Louis Weiss Memorial Hospital and UChicago Medicine.
Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 2 p.m.
