It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother Roger Konarski, son of the late Sigmund and Lottie Konarski. As a child of two Holocaust survivors, Roger was passionate about the state of Israel. He participated in the Sar-El-Volunteers for Israel, where he worked on IDF bases alongside soldiers, base employees, and other volunteers, performing non-combat civilian support duties. Over the many years, Roger made 18 separate trips to Israel to participate with Sar-El, returning most recently from a 3 1/2 week stint in late December, despite the ongoing Gaza War. Roger was passionate about helping others less fortunate than him, volunteering at his temple when it acted as a PADS Shelter, welcoming a Ukrainian refugee family into his apartment building at a reduced rent, and in his passing, establishing several annuities to provide financial aid to individuals that were important to him, and bequeathing his entire estate to the Jewish United Fund of Chicago.
Roger developed and owned his own company, Restoration Stonework, where his employees became part of his extended family. He took great pride in the work product that his company delivered which is borne out by his 4.8 review rating on Google.
Roger will be deeply missed by his adoring family: brother Michael, sisters Debra (Roger) Magro and Rhonda (Douglas Propp) Konarski, and nephews Alex, Charles, Jordan and Josh.
