Rosemarie B. Harnack
Rosemarie B. Harnack, age 91, of Northfield and a fifty-year resident of Winnetka, IL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 28, 2021. Born in Chicago, IL on December 29, 1929 to Percy W. and Maria D. Ball, she is survived by her son, Christopher Wallen and daughters, Gretchen Marie and Pamela Anne. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Don Steger Harnack and their son, Scott Percy. She attended Northwestern University and worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a long-distance operator and spokeswoman. Out of 2,000 long-distance operators in the Chicago Toll-Division, she was crowned Miss Voice in 1956. She was active with her children with the Boy & Girl Scouts of America. She spent her leisure time reading, enjoying her citrus orchard, traveling, dining with friends, and adoring her cherished dogs. She was an ardent supporter of nature, wildlife, environmental conservation, and dogs, especially Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. A private service will be held.
