HOW DO WE REPLACE AN IRREPLACEABLE SOUL? 
I feel honored and truly blessed to say that Scott Liss was my friend. Not lifelong friends nor best friends, but genuine with mutual affection.  I regret never meeting his family and that we spent time together in person only a handful of times over the 10 years that we knew each other.  Nonetheless, this amazing soul made such an impact on me that I now grieve his passing like a lost brother. The Scott I knew was the embodiment of unmitigated kindness and generosity of spirit. He was genuine and tangible goodness personified. From the first time we met at SXSW, introduced by a mutual professional contact, I knew I wanted to be friends with this guy.  Interacting with him always made me smile and was a consistent and often needed reminder of the potential for goodness in others. Even while fighting his illness, he checked on me and apologized for not being able to meet my son who recently started college in Chicago. This man was fighting for his life and apologizing for not being able to have dinner with me! That's who he was --SELFLESS.  My heart aches to know how to appropriately honor his memory.  I've decided that we must ensure that the light he projected into the lives of others continues to illuminate this fleeting journey for those around us now that he is no longer among us to shine that beautiful light directly on us.  We unequivocally need more people like SCOTT LISS. In a world besieged with conflict, misunderstanding, fear, hatred and loneliness, there is an essentiality to people that possess and demonstrate the qualities that Scott represented.  We cannot replace an irreplaceable soul, but I pledge to strive to be a light for others like Scott was to all who knew him. May God rest his beautiful soul and may God provide peace and comfort to all who knew and loved him.  You are missed my friend but you will NEVER be forgotten.

There aren’t many words left to describe Scott that haven’t already been shared—and if you knew him, you know how genuinely he embodied every single one. I met Scott when he was just starting out in ad sales, but what he ended up “selling” was something far greater. A sales call from Scott quickly turned into talking with a friend. Yes, he was great at his job—but his superpower was opening doors and then walking through them with heart, humor, and humanity.

The last time I saw Scott was at a coffee shop in downtown Minneapolis. His account list had shifted and he was no longer on our business. But that didn’t stop him. He leaned in, asked how he could still help me or our agency—because that’s just who he was. All the words people use to describe Scott feel like a blueprint for the person we all aspire to be. Most of all, he defined what it means to be kind.

I’ve met countless people in this industry over the years. But there was only one Scott Liss—and I’m so grateful to have known him.

So heartbreaking and hard to believe someone who led such a big and full life is no longer with us. His huge and “high octane” presence in our industry and community will be so missed. I’m heartbroken for you, Katie, and the kids but know you have all of our support and prayers as you move forward and cherish so many special memories with him.

I couldn’t be there in person but the service was so special and reflected so much of his life and personality, it was wonderful to hear all the stories and have some laughs together. You couldn’t talk to Scott without music and laughs, he was so witty, self-deprecating, and always positive to the end. I'm still just in shock.

I worked with Scott for 5 years at EW and another 10 at iHeart after he quickly networked with me to help get that job after a layoff. I’ll be forever grateful for his support and friendship over the years. Scott was such a great connector in business and in the community. 

This was our EW/Time Inc. crew, circa 2003(?). Thankful for all the great times we had. He was one of a kind.

I am so grateful to have been able to call Scott not just a colleague, but a friend. It’s so amazing to know that he had that ability to make everyone feel special. He was so proud of his wife and children and was just an all around amazing person. Thank you Scott for being my friend, my cheerleader, my hype man. The world has really lost a good one.  Continued prayers to your family and loved ones.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this challenging time.  I knew Scott through a mutual connection and was part of his Saturday and Sunday golf crew.   Scott’s sense of life and passion made getting up early and golfing in the cold worth it every single weekend.  I will miss his unbelievable knowledge of music and always being so inclusive to others…he was a bright spot for many of us  Dads as we all navigated the highs and lows of raising families. Some people become part of the soundtrack of your life - for me, Scott was one of those people.

Introduced at a show through our mutual friend, Scott Hess, we immediately bonded over our enthusiasm for live music. One show turned into a second…a third…and so on. Didn’t matter who we saw, if Scott materialized with tickets, my answer would always be yes. I was proud to be on his list of *most reliable* concert buddies. We’d always make time to connect over dinner or a drink beforehand to catch each other up on our families and lives. 

This is the only photo I have with Scott. It was taken at the 2023 Dead & Co show (The Final Tour) at Wrigley Field. We went separately but, somehow, found each other in a sea of Deadheads at setbreak. It was a happy moment and one I’ll cherish forever. 

Scott, you were more than just a concert companion. You were a reminder to savor life, to stay for the encore, and to never stop dancing. ❤️

I had the privilege of working with Scott for just six months, yet in that brief time, our professional relationship gave way to a genuine and lasting friendship. I'm grateful for the moments we shared and -- not long ago -- for the opportunity to express to him how much he meant to me. True to his generous nature, Scott turned the conversation around, sharing his feelings and appreciation for our bond.​

His absence is deeply felt, but I am profoundly thankful to have known him and to call him my friend.​

It was a joy to witness Katie and Scott's wedding, and they will always have one of the most beautiful love stories. I went to law school with Katie, and I remember the first time she told me about Scott and the way her face just lit up. I will be wrapping Katie and the kids in prayer, and Scott's memory will remain a blessing. My sincere condolences to the family.

From the moment I started working with Scott at iHeartMedia, he made me feel like family. And while he was a joy to wheel and deal with at client meetings, we connected most deeply after hours over (surprise) music. We attended multiple concerts together (all of which HE most certainly planned) and it was impossible to have a bad time with the dude. But what moved me the most was when he thoughtfully sent me a beautiful, coveted poster from a concert that I couldn't actually attend in person. I had it framed and it is hanging in my home to this day. I'll never forget you, Scott -- thank you for everything.

Scott was always either the life of the party or near its center. We were all acting funny in the photo booth at last year's Wildwood PTO Spring Fling, and we had no idea it would be our last with Scott. He will definitely be missed.

I am so saddened by this. I had the pleasure of working with Scott at iHeartMedia. Scott was passionate, vibrant and kind. He was a great support to me when I was laid off. He meant everything he said and followed through every time. He was genuine, collaborative and a total team player. He was one of the good guys. May all those around you bring  you some measure of peace during this difficult time.

Scott came to visit us in New York not long after lock down it was nice to see him in real life after so many zooms throughout the pandemic.

This picture was taken at an early morning breakfast after a late night watching multiple bands. 
Scott was always smiling and asking how he could help anyone and everyone. Even when he was not well it was still the case. 
His smile was infectious and would light up any place he entered.

This still doesn’t seem real. We lost a wonderful human way too early. Scott had a way to be so incredibly present. One on one time was profoundly intentional and never would you leave a moment with him without a quick laugh. He had an energy about him that all of us strive to have in this life. He left an imprint on all of us and will be sorely missed. To Katie and the kids, my heart breaks for you. My family and I pass along all our love and condolences. This truly doesn’t seem real, I’m so sorry.

Scott was an amazing colleague and friend. We enjoyed so many client dinners and events together and became friends. I enjoyed hearing stories about his beautiful children and lovely wife.  I am going to him miss tremendously. Rest in peace my friend. My sincerest condolences to Scott’s family. May the many wonderful memories be of comfort to you during this difficult time. I remember Scott fondly from high school.  We had lockers next to each other.  He was a charismatic, funny, cool guy.  We went to the same college where he was a TA for one of my courses.  We didn’t stay in touch that much after college, but I followed him and his beautiful family on socials.  My heart breaks for all of you, what a great life I bet he had.
