Sonia Reich, 94, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Northbrook, IL. Born in Dubno, Poland, Sonia survived the Holocaust as a child in flight and in hiding. She came to Chicago at age 16, later married Holocaust survivor Robert Reich, and had two children and three grandchildren. Her son, Howard Reich, told her unspoken Holocaust story in the book and PBS-broadcast film Prisoner of Her Past.
Sonia is survived by son Howard Reich (Pam Becker); daughter Barbara Reich-Abramovitz (Lou Abramovitz); and grandchildren Robbie, Aaron and Amanda Abramovitz.
Visitation at noon, funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment private.
