Steve was a joy to know. He was a coach to our son and a friend to all of us. Steve was always upbeat and just fun to talk to. He was always giving his time to others. We have been blessed to know him and are deeply saddened at his passing. I'm sure he's keeping everyone laughing up in heaven!

Steve...you truly were one of the best people anyone could have been blessed to have known.

Everything about you will be missed. As in our parting words a few weeks ago.

I have only known Steve for a short time.  I met him through my closest friend Linda.  Linda lost her husband 12 years ago.  She knew Steve through hockey.  Their boys play together.  She always told me that Steve was a fun guy.  Always laughing and joking about something.  He wanted to date Linda but she just didn't think she was ready to move on. After a little bit of convincing she decided to become better friends with Steve.  He was the most understanding, patient friend, knowing that she was nervous about dating anyone.  He never pressured her and said that when she was ready he would be there for her.  Linda finally decided that she was going to let her wall down and started dating Steve.  They were inseparable.  Linda always would tell me about how wonderful and good he was to her and how he helped her feel emotions again. Even love.  Steve was always smiling when he was with Linda.  We always had a good time when we were together.  We were together when the Black Hawks won the Stanley Cup. That is a memory I will always cherish. For a few months Steve helped my best friend learn that there is still love in the world and it needs to be shared and absorbed.  I will miss you my special friend. A truly caring person has left us much too soon. I think I first met Steve when he was working at the gas station in Hubbard Woods about 25 years ago. He later worked for me part time and, in recent years, I really enjoyed seeing the interaction between Steve and the young hockey players he coached. He will be missed. My thoughts are with his family.

I first met Steve as part of the Winnetka Bible Church Youth Group. He became a great friend. Loved his parents, too. I still have fond memories of the many times we went camping in Wisconsin, sitting around the fire and reciting our favorite movie lines.

Coach Steve, you will be missed. In all of my years of playing hockey, the seasons I spent playing on your team were the best. We always had so much fun on the ice and I will never forget how much you cared for your players. Thank you for the memories.

Steve was one of the most fun and funniest guys I've known.  My first memory of him is when he was in junior high:  He and Chris Wire climbed up the side of Winnetka Bible Church and into my window to say hello.  They wanted to make sure they got treated special when they got into the high school group.  I could go on forever with all my memories of his pranks and wit.  But the other thing I admire about him, as was evident in my last conversations with him, was Steve's deep trust in Jesus, no matter what he was going through.  He knew this world was not his home, but he wanted to be here for his son and mom as long as possible.

You made being your teammate a privledge. We met through Hockey and became friends. We saw our kids as babies, we saw them grow up, and I remember how proud we were. We grew up with our kids. On behalf of the Tiberi family, our hearts and prayers go out to the Edwards family. To Christian, keep on going because that is what your dad would want. Good by Steve, you will never be forgotten.

Thoughts and prayers are with all the Edwards'  family.  I have many great memories of Steve and his passion and joy for hockey and life made being on the same team with him, and being his friend, more fun and full.  Thanks for everything, Steve.  You'll be missed.
