Virginia Ann Robinson Evans

Virginia Ann Robinson Evans, 92, of Winnetka, Illinois, passed away in her home on July 21, 2023. The daughter of Howard Pitney Robinson and Clarine Kelley Robinson, she was born in Franklin, Indiana, eventually moving to Winnetka, Illinois, with her parents. She attended Hubbard Words, Skokie and New Trier, like her children and grandchildren. She graduated from Smith College, majoring in English, and worked for Senator Everett Dirksen in Washington. She married her husband of 36 years, Frank Fraser Evans, MD, in 1967, and had two children. She later earned a MAT from National College of Education. She was a published author, avid reader, tennis player, teacher and knitter. She loved the Lyric Opera, Botanical Gardens and raising her collies, including her treasured Mr. Chips. She could bring a smile to anyone. She may have loved being Gramma Ginny the most.

She is predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children David Howard Evans (Deanne), of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Stephen Fraser Evans (Tracy) of Winnetka, Illinois; her grandchildren Ann Marie Virginia Evans, Christopher James Howard Evans and Nicholas David Lawrence Evans, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and Sophia Rose Evans, of Winnetka, Illinois; and her step children, Judith Evans Linklater, Frank Fraser Evans II, and Michele Evans Mayhew.

Visitation Friday, July 28, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Ave., Wilmette. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in memory of Virginia to Smith College Gift Accounting, 33 Elm Street, Northampton, MA 01063.
