

Vivian Rubenstein (née Shapiro), age 89, passed away peacefully with family at her side. Beloved wife and best friend of 70 beautiful years to Dr. Dave J; loving mother and confidant of Cyrene, Gary (Mia), and Debra; and loving grandmother of Golda. Vivian was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Shapiro (née Eisenberg) and dear sister of the late Dr. Alan (Sherie) Shapiro and Judith (the late Robert) Ellis. Vivian was also an adored aunt and cousin to many.
Vivian enjoyed a distinguished career in the travel industry spanning nearly one half of a century. With deep knowledge and warmth, she helped clients explore the world and fulfill their travel dreams. An avid traveler herself, she delighted in experiencing new cultures and sharing those stories with family and friends.
Beyond her professional life, Vivian was an extraordinary hostess and an exceptional cook. Family gatherings and holidays were made special by her warmth, generosity, and the delicious meals she lovingly prepared. She created a home filled with hospitality, and cherished traditions.
Vivian will be remembered for her devotion to family, and her kindness and grace to all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Weinstein & Piser
Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment at Westlawn Cemetery, Norridge, IL.
A shiva will occur at the Rubenstein Residence, 2555 Virginia Ln, Northbrook, IL 60062 immediately following the interment until 8:00 PM and Saturday thru Tuesday 4:00 PM-8:00 PM.
