We are saddened to announce that Joseph Anthony “Tony” Lopez was called home to be with the Lord and welcomed by his parents and his son-in-law, David Mendoza on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in San Pedro, CA on February 21, 1942, to Severo and Maria de Jesus Lopez. Shortly after graduating from Banning High School in 1960, he married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Lopez, on September 23, 1961. He worked for Mayflower Trailer Company for a short period of time before moving on to Johns Manville in Long Beach, CA. Tony and Gloria resided in Wilmington, CA where they raised their four children. In 1980, Tony and Gloria relocated to Diamond Bar, CA as Tony began his new career as a Longshoreman with ILWU, Local 13. Tony was a loving, kind husband who was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He was an active father as he coached several sports and participated in many activities. His favorite times were watching his kids and later, grandkids in various sporting events and performances in song/dance. Tony was ecstatic and lit up whenever his great granddaughters would visit him. His legacy will continue to live on through cherished memories and teachings of a strong, loving, supportive husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Tony is survived by his beautiful wife of 57 years, Gloria, his four children Desiree (preceded in death husband Dave), Mark (Kathy), Joe (Diana), Melissa (Shane); 9 grandchildren, Lil Kat (Felix), AJ, Nicholas, Alexa, Andre, Kristy, Shane Jr., Victoria, and Luke; 3 great grandchildren Angelique, Aaliyah and Aubree.
