Adrian T Creech
Born February 15, 1932
Adrian Theodore “Ted” Creech passed away peacefully in his sleep April 5, 2018 near his home in Wilmington, NC. He was 86.
Born in Johnston County, NC, he was the son of the late Johnny T. Creech and Nita Pearl Hobbs. He is predeceased by his sister Margaret Vestal.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Schumacher, son John Theodore “Ted” Creech (Rosa), daughter Terri Creech Morey (Mark), grandchildren Chelsea, Caitie, Blase (Tiffany), Griffin and Dylan, and great grandchildren Scott and Monroe. Ted is also survived by nephew John Beasley, brother-in-law Tom Schumacher, sister-in-law Georgia Curry (Bill), nephews Josh (Karla) and Christopher, niece Callie, great nephew Logan, and great nieces Nora and Kailia. The family dogs, Jim-bob and Andy, were his constant companions.
Ted was a veteran, having served as a jet crew chief in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and he was a graduate of Virginia Tech. He worked as a textile engineer for many years and later joined the United States Postal Service where he retired.
Ted grew up on a tobacco farm in eastern North Carolina. He loved to mention that Ava Gardner, who was born in the same community, babysat him and his sister when she was a young girl. Later in his youth, Ted became an accomplished quarterback, leading his 1948 Fayetteville High School football team to the state championship.
Ted loved golf and taught his wife and son how to play. He also loved the ocean and fishing and was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan dating back to the Lombardi years. He passed his enthusiasm for these things on to his family and friends.
Ted gave us hope even in his final days when he said, “Everything is okay. I found God.”
We love you, bud. We will miss you. Go Pack Go!
