

William Alan White of Wilmington, North Carolina died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the age of 63. The oldest of 4, he was born on May 17, 1953 to Dora Barrett and William Henry White of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He was in the 1st graduating class of North Eastern High School where he played cornet in the marching band. His love of music also inspired him to play and sing in a rock band. An avid Tarheel fan, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Oklahoma. While there he met and married the love of his life Stephanie Merriott and later they were blessed with two lovely daughters Allison Leigh and Lauren Elizabeth. They recently celebrated 35 years of a loving marriage. Sadly, Alan just recently retired with 35 years at DuPont/DAK Americas where he served as the Medical Director and Board Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Alan loved his family and is survived by his wife Stephanie, daughters, Allison and Lauren, mother Dora, his siblings Henry L White and wife Fran Robertson of Raleigh, Dorothy and Steve Gupton of Winston Salem and Becky White Mooney of Apex. Nieces and Nephews include Jessica and Bryson Pender, Scott and Stephen Mooney and Braxton Robertson.
Alan was a most amazingly caring man who never met a stranger and all who knew him felt loved by him. He will truly be missed.
He was passionate about many organizations in the Wilmington area. Memorials in his honor may be made to the charity of your choice.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at The First Christian in Wilmington. 2035 Oleander Drive. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
