Alden Richard "Dick" Butler, 83, of Holly Ridge, NC, formerly of Topsail Beach, NC, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at his residence. He was born on April 30, 1931 in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Ernest and Grace Jacobs Butler. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Butler. Mr. Butler began his career in retail working for the W T Grant Co. from 1951 to 1976 where he became the Merchandise Vice-President. He later served as the President of MGI (Marc's) in Cleveland from 1988 until his retirement in 1998. Surviving is his wife of sixty-three years, Joan Marie Butler; four children, Richard Butler and wife Barbara of Southbury, CT, Jacqueline Felker and husband Robert of Ellicott City, MD, Karen Whittaker and husband Charles of Canton, GA, and Patricia Mullane and husband Michael of Marlton, NJ; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 27, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Dick's memory to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital, PO Box 2095, Surf City, NC 28445.
