Alice Sara Orr Worthington

Alice Sara Orr Worthington, 88, of Wilmington went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday August 14, 2013. She was born in the Montague Community of Pender County, NC. Alice was the daughter of the late John William Orr (Mr. Billy) and Lena Armenta Malpass Orr. Alice is preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Orr and wife Thelma, D.B. Orr, J.W. Orr, Jr. and wife Mildred; four sisters, Edith Orr Pope and husband Glenn Curtis Pope, Ruby Orr Price and husband Jack, Ruth Orr and Tressa Mae Orr Barnhill and husband Carl; and brothers in law, Stewart Devane, Homer Keith Worthington and Oliver G. Worthington, Sr. She is survived by her husband, Rupert D. Worthington to whom she was a great wife for 64 years; one sister, Estelle Devane; two sisters in law, Louise Orr and Lucille Worthington; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was raised on a farm. She graduated from Long Creek Grady High School. She was a life time member of Myrtle Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church (now New Beginnings Community Church of Montague). Alice was a professional tie inspector. She worked at the following plants until they closed, Graves Neckwear, Frances Shirt Factory, Remington Shirt Factory and MJB's. When the plants closed she worked in the following school cafeterias, Williston and Sunset Park until she retired. Alice enjoyed working in her garden. She was a great cook everyone enjoyed her homemade pecan pies. Alice was a wonderful wife, Christian lady, good friend to many and neighbor to all. The family will receive friends Friday August 16, 2013 from 6pm until 8pm and Saturday August 17, 2013 from 1pm until 2pm at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday August 17, 2013 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Rupert and family would like to thank Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the care and love they have given to Alice. Thank you my friends for the cards, visits, food and prayers. May God Bless you.
