Allen Karpinsky

Allen Robert Karpinsky Sr, age 83 of Leland, NC passed away Tuesday March 1, 2011 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center with his loving family by his side. Mr. Karpinsky was a native of Islip, NY and served in the US Navy aboard the Bon Homme Richard. He was the son of the late Lillian Karpinsky Gittinger and Henry Karpinsky. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 52years Peggy Kennedy Karpinsky and one brother Richard Karpinsky.

Survivors include two daughters: Diane Kennedy and husband Richard of Apex, NC along with Vicky Simmons and husband Greg of Leland, NC: one son Allen Robert Karpinsky Jr and wife Shirley of Warsaw NC. Also left to share memories are five grandchildren: Alise Walker, Kristy Smith, Jennifer Coppersmith, Keith Karpinsky and Allen Robert Karpinsky III. He also was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Tanner Blue, Kaitlyn Coppersmith, Jaylon Karpinsky, Ronald Coppersmith Jr and Jace Karpinsky. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside Service and Military Honors for Mr. Karpinsky will be held at 11:00 am, Friday March 4, 2011 at the Nelson Cemetery in Leland, NC with Pastor S.L. Doty to officiate.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Thursday evening at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Services, 3915 Oleander Drive.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Mr. Karpinsky’s name to¬¬ the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
