

Anne Mahoney Lengkeek was born October 12, 1947, to Dr. Daniel Patrick Mahoney and Mary Louise Bounds Mahoney in Troy, NY, and died June 25, 2026, at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC with her family at her side. She graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1965 and from Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Troy, NY in 1968. She started her nursing career in Pediatrics. As she moved to various locations as a Navy wife, she worked in several centers in various specialties. She completed her nursing career in long term care.
As a registered nurse, Anne’s skill and caring nature benefited many patients over the years. She was also a wonderful wife and mother, whose primary goal in life was to unselfishly love and care for her family. Her warm and positive personality was appreciated by all who knew her.
Anne is survived by her husband, Dale Robert Lengkeek, whom she met while he was a Navy officer stationed on board a submarine home ported in Pearl Harbor and she was working at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. They were married in Honolulu in 1972 and went on to have four children: Dana Marie, Jeffrey (Marguerite), Christopher and James, all of whom survive her. She is further survived by three grandchildren: Ryan, Sawyer and Joshua Lengkeek and three siblings: Mary Dana Mahoney, William Mahoney (Nancy) and John Mahoney (Ann), along with several nieces and nephews. Two sisters-in-law, Jean Mahoney and Mary Mahoney also survive her. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel Mahoney and Robert Mahoney.
Anne and Dale retired to Wilmington, NC in 2009. They resided in Porters Neck Plantation and are members of St. Mark Catholic Church in Wilmington.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at St. Mark Catholic Church.
