Annie Bright Walker, 39, of Leland, NC, lost her battle with cancer Tuesday, September 11, 2013, at the Zimmer Cancer Center of New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Annie was born March 7, 1974 in New Bern, NC, daughter of Kenneth Earl Bright and Glennie Chase Johnson. Her sister, Julia B. Strickland, preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Alfred "Hunky" Walker, Jr. and stepson, Alfred Walker, III, both of Leland; stepfather, George Johnson of Dover, NC; two nephews, Brad Strickland and Justin Strickland; and several stepsisters. A funeral service will be held at 4pm Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Andrews Market Street Chapel with Rev. Kenny Manuel officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 3pm until the service hour. A graveside service will be held at 2pm Sunday, September 15, 2013, in Trenton Cemetery, Trenton, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Annie's memory may be made to Zimmer Cancer Center, 2131 S. 17th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
