Chess and I became friends  early in life around 1964 or so while living in Goldsboro NC.  He lived around the corner on Taylor st.,  and I on Claiborne st. We rode bikes together laughing alot while peddling  some mornings  to Walnut St. School.  While in Scouts  Chess took part in the jamboree marching to Bath NC along with other troops from Goldsboro. The hike was around 100 miles.        
We enjoyed participating in pinewood derby races together at St. Paul's Methodist Church.  As teenagers, chess and I developed  a passion for water skiing!  We couldn't get enough, we would even put on a wet suit and ski in the winter time at Walnut Creek, wildlife pond and Atlantic beach. Chess enjoyed boating like his father Dr. Chesson. 










Uncle Chess, 
           I’ve missed you these last couple of years. I remember the last time I saw you in the Walmart. You were so excited for me and Nikki, she was pregnant with Major.  I hope you knew how much I loved you and how much I enjoyed hanging out and talking about all the cars we wish we had.  

I can remember When Kevin and I were kids and you guys stayed at the old trailer park, And while Kevin and I would be playing outside you would be mowing all the lawns with the John Deere riding mower. I remember thinking how cool you were to have a riding lawnmower. 

I’m sorry Major never go to meet you I just know he would have loved  you so much. I promise he will know who his Uncle Chess is! I love you Uncle Chess more than you knew.  Until we see each other again. Rest easy in the arms of our Lord.
