

Art was born July 28, 1920 in Hackensack, New Jersey. He is the son of the late Fredrick August Kutz and the late Laura Elizabeth (Mason) Kutz. Art was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of over 46 years, Wilma E. Schultz; his only child, Paul Arthur Kutz Sr. on September 5, 2012; his brothers, William and Lester; his sisters, Matilda, Laura and Gloria and also his step grandson Frederick J. Dierberger Jr..
He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Navy Seabee, 59th Battalion Company D6, 3rd Class Electrician. He served in the Pacific Theater, Guam Campaign and received the Good Conduct Medal. He also served in the Navy Reserves. He retired from the New York Telephone Co. in 1981 as a Central Office Foreman.
He was a member of CWA Tel Union, the Telephone Pioneers, 59er's Associates (Seabees), the Hawthorne Cabelleros (Drum Corp), FMCA (RV Club). He was also a 66 year member of the American Legion. Art served on the Zoning Board in Poughquag, New York and he was the Chairman of the Conservative Party also in Poughquag.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Arlene L. Kutz, of New Paltz, NY, his brother and sister-in-law, John & Carol Kutz of Panama City, FL. he is also survived by his step granddaughter, Tracey Rhoades of Highland, NY, two grandsons and one granddaughter, also many great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403.
Military Honors will be held at 4:00pm conducted by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur's name to the American Cancer Society or the Altzheimers Association.
