Barbara Gee Williams

Barbara Gee Williams (Kitty), 89 of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026. She was born in Kenbridge, Virginia on October 5, 1936 to Harold Benjamin Gee, Sr and Martha Tisdale Gee. Kitty was predeceased by her parents, her brothers HB Gee, Archie Gee and Brad Gee.

A graduate of Kenbridge High School, Kitty shared the fondest memories of growing up in Kenbridge surrounded by lifelong friends and in a family home with a kitchen that seemed to be the hub of the community. Later in life, the stories from those years brought her much joy and laughter. After high school she attended Lees-McRae College. In Kitty’s early career she worked in Charlotte, NC and made many friends. This was a time in her life that seemed to be filled with fun, adventure and service to the community.

After getting married she moved to Wilson, NC where she lived for over 40 years. Kitty was a career woman, homemaker, community volunteer and dear friend to many. She was talented and accomplished in every endeavor; making it look easy. As one of the forty families who started Greenfield School she was an active volunteer there as well as at St Timothy’s Episcopal Church and on the VMI Parent’s Council. With her husband, Kitty owned Holiday House Furniture and the Lighting Center of Wilson. It was there and in her home that you came to appreciate her sense of style and fashion, leading to a successful career as an interior decorator. Governor Jim Holshouser honored her with membership into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for her work on the historic Bath Commission.

Kitty was a beautiful woman who seemed to shine from within. She brought an energy and drive to any task that far surpassed her petite size. She loved her family and enjoyed a close relationship with her five siblings, especially her two sisters Rhonda and Rebecca. Despite living in different states, they made time for each other, visiting and traveling.

Moving to Wilmington, NC twenty-three years ago allowed Kitty to be close to her son’s family and her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving, fun, intelligent and dynamic mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend and neighbor. A true southern lady with a mischievous twinkle in her eye and a quick laugh at the ready.

She is survived by her two sons; Samuel Robert Harrison Williams III and daughter-in-law Sharon of Walkertown, NC and their daughter Katie Williams and by her son Dr. Barton Gee Williams and daughter-in-law Sandra of Wrightsville Beach, NC along with their children Sarah Williams Dalton (Conner), Betsy Williams Weidemann (Jesse) and Barton Gee Williams Jr. Affectionately known as “Gee” by her grandchildren, Kitty is also survived by three great grandchildren: Jack Dalton, Wills Dalton, and Parker Weidemann. She is also survived by her two sisters Rhonda Clements (Tom) and Rebecca Love.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
