Beatrice M. Jones, 95, of Hampstead, NC, died Thursday, December 31, 2007, at her residence. She was born in Paterson, NJ, August 1, 1912, daughter of the late Harry Phelps and Charlotte Wait Phelps, and was the widow of Wesley Jones who passed away in 1996. Mrs. Jones retired from Dartmouth University in Hanover, NH, where she was a librarian for fifteen years, and had lived in Hampstead for the last ten years. She attended Topsail Presbyterian Church and is remembered as a wonderful mother-in-law. Surviving are two sons, William Robert Jones of Defuniak Springs, FL, and Jack Phelps Jones and wife Linda of Hampstead, NC; also six grandchildren, Todd Jones, Alan Jones, Colleen Markham, Christopher Jones, Tom Jones, and Jacqueline Blake. A grandson, Patrick Jones, preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel by the Rev. Owen Carriker.
