Bernice Lee Walker

Bernice Lee Walker, 80, of Wilmington, died January 11, 2010 at Davis Health care Center. Bernice was born October 21, 1929 in Columbus County, NC, the son of the late Zara Walker and Maudie West Walker. Bernice was retired from A&P Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. and General Electric. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had been a member of Wesleyan Church in his earlier life and was very active in both churches. Bernice is survived by his wife, Evelyn B. Walker; two daughters, Kathy Lee Nick and Pamela Hewett Jimmy; six grandchildren, Nicole Newton Rob, Jason Clark Jonna, Dennis Clark Lindy, Nicholas Lee Nathalie, Christina Flanigan Brian and Stacey McCumbee Jordan; seven great grandchildren, Morgan Phillips, Madelynn Newton, Ryne Clark, Riley Clark, Parker Clark, Mya Newton and Cole Flanigan; three brothers, James Walker Audrey, John Walker and Earl Walker Ginger and a sister, Mary Powell Ray. Bernice was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and loving friend. He was a very gentle and kindhearted man. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Pallbearers will be Jason Clark, Dennis Clark, Nicholas Lee, Rob Newton, Mike Parish and Kevin Powell. The family will receive friends from 10-11 Thursday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, where funeral services will follow at 11AM with Rev. Donnie Lovette officiating.
