Betty Jane Busby

Betty Jane Busby, 88 of Wilmington, NC, died Friday November 19, 2021. She was born in Shreveport, LA on March 8, 1933 to William Leo Lemons and Elizabeth Wolf Lemons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son Eldon Busby and great grandson Aric Whaley.

Betty Jane was a very quiet and reserved lady. She loved to read and was a gifted writer. Her husband said she had written many of his better term papers over the years. She was a wonderful Air Force wife for 23 years. She and her family lived on Okinawa in the late 60’s. She and her husband traveled extensively all over the world for many years. She and her husband operated a clock sales and repair business in Wilmington for nearly 50 years.

She is survived by her husband James Ellis Busby of the home; daughter Deborah K. Thorne; son David Ellis Busby; grandson David Whaley and wife Penny; three great grandsons Christopher Whaley, Travis Whaley, Justin Whaley and two great-great grandchildren, Scarlet Rose Whaley and Cooper William Whaley.

I love you BJ, our children will always hold your love in their hearts.

A Memorial Service will be held at Coble Funeral and Cremation service at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel at 11:00AM Monday, November 29, 2021 with Pastor Billy Batten officiating. She will be interred in the Coastal Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC at a later date.

Dick, I remember Betty Jane as a sweet gentle person. I never heard her complain. I will remember her . My condolences to David and Debbie. I know they will miss her. I know she was very special to you.
