Betty was born on July 28, 1931 in Bolton, North Carolina, to parents Lawrence and Lora Mae Brown. She graduated from James Walker School of Nursing in Wilmington, NC as a Registered Nurse in 1952. No matter where she lived she was always active in improving the health of her community, most recently at the New Hanover County Health Department, where she worked until her retirement in the early nineties.
Betty was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She married John H. Vincent in 1951 and the couple had one daughter together, Joanne. Betty was a social, active woman who was deeply involved in her church, her community, and her chosen career. She enjoyed camping, square dancing, and spending time with her family. Her family and friends will always remember her as a feisty, fun-loving, and hard-working woman.
On Thursday, April 12, there will be a visitation at 10am at Andrews Market Street Chapel, followed by a funeral at 11am, and a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Betty’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Gideons International, a body of believers dedicated to making the Word of God available to everyone.
