Bobby Lee Lancaster

 Bobby is predeceased by his parents, Jim and Hester Lancaster, and brothers Jimmy and Eugene Lancaster.

 Bobby is survived by his wife Edna Lancaster, sons Bob (Jennifer) Lancaster, David (Tara) Lancaster, Gary (Kerri) Lancaster, and Matthew (Emily) Lancaster all of Wilmington, NC, and six grandchildren, Ryland, Ruth Joy, Logan, Levi, Lauren, and Sarah. Also surviving are Bobby’s brother, Add (Reba) Lancaster of Pikeville, sisters, Ruby Hicks of Goldsboro, Agnes (Jimmy) Green of Elm City, Dolly Mozingo of Elm City, sister-in-law, Doris Lancaster of Pikeville, and many nieces and nephews.

 Bobby was born June 13, 1942, in Goldsboro, NC, to the late Jim and Hester Lancaster. He graduated from Hope High School and Wayne Community College.

 In 1971 Bobby moved to Wilmington to work for Carolina Power and Light at the Sutton Plant, where he was admired by his co-workers for his cool confidence and vast knowledge of electrical, instrument, and control systems. Bobby began Lancaster Electric Company with his sons in 1985. He retired from CP&L in 2003, a birthday present to himself, and began working full time at Lancaster Electric Company.

 Since 1979 the Lancaster’s have provided a loving foster home for at least 350 children and countless meals for family friends.

 Bobby was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for years. His life was a testament of love for his family and faith in God.

 Bobby was famous for cooking NC style BBQ and traveled long distances on any given Saturday with his Triumph Bonneville motorcycle to his favorite BBQ spots. Bobby also enjoyed spending time at the mountain home in Boone, NC. He made a conscious effort to maintain his New Year’s Resolution, “Never eat cheap ice cream”.

 The family extends their appreciation to the staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and special friend, Chip Walton.

 A memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 1401 N College Road, Wilmington, NC 28405, on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Jay Knolls and Pastor Jim Herchenhahn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

 Memorial donations may be made to Wilmington Christian Academy at Grace Baptist Church.
