He was born July 29, 1929, in Kannapolis, NC to the late Maurice Story McLain and Mary Belle McLain.
Bobby was a lifetime member of Masonboro Baptist Church, a Deacon, choir member and lay preacher. He retired from Life of Virginia. He Loved gardening, singing hymns and his family time.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Carmen Timms McLain; his son, Ricky McLain (Lisa); his daughter. Kathy McLain; one brother, Arnold McLain of Smithfield, NC; two grandchildren, Tracy McLain Crews and Crystal McLain and five great-grandchildren, Aaliyan, Logan, Kyndall, Riley and Avery.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm, Monday, December 16, 2019, at Masonboro Baptist Church, 1501 Beasley Rd, Wilmington, NC 28409.
The family will receive visitors one hour prior, beginning at 1pm.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
