Brenda Kay Ballengee, 64, of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully on January 29, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Brenda was born on July 27, 1948 in Huntington, WV. She was a graduate of West Virginia University, and lived in Indianapolis, IN with her family for many years.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, James Ware; her children, Matthew Christian and Mary Catherine; her brother-in-law, Lewis Cook; her father-in-law, Marvin Ballengee; her mother-in-law, Mary Ballengee; and her first husband, Steve Bailey and his parents, Charles and Nelma Bailey.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Glenn Ballengee; her children, Tracey Bailey, Adam Ballengee, and Andrew Ballengee; her grandson, Joseph Anderson; her mother, Opal Ware; her sister, Pam Cook; her brother, Jim Ware and his wife, Mary Anne; her sister-in-law, Becky Ballengee; her nieces, Jennie Coleman, her husband John, and their children Alexis, Hunter, and Blake; Sara Shoulars, her husband Jeremy, and their son Cruz; Karen Ware-Rudnik, her husband Jeff, and their children McKenna, Delaney, and Cooper; and Julie Wallace, her husband Mark, and their daughter Ava; and many other very special cousins. She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends.
The funeral services will be held on Monday February 4 at 1:00pm at Coble Ward-Smith, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403, following the visitation at 12:00pm. Burial services will be held afterwards at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC 28412.
