Carl Edward Cowell

Carl Edward Cowell, 96, of Wilmington, passed away on May 26, 2013 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center. Mr. Cowell was born in Westmoreland County, PA on December 31, 1916, and was the son of the late Roy Heasley Cowell and Harriet Steiner Hayes. Mr. Cowell was in the US Air Force from 1942 until 1966. He obtained the rank of Chief Master Sgt. He was in the Civil Service from 1966 until 1976.

Mr. Cowell is preceded in death by his wife, Zeta M. McKlveen Cowell and his son-in-law, William M. Farrar. He is survived by his daughter, Jonna C. Farrar of Wilmington; son, Roy Dennis Cowell of Wilmington; two grandsons, Bill Farrar and wife Tam of Columbus, OH, and Lt. Col. Sean and wife Tricia of Greenville, NC; great grandsons, Bennett Patrick Farrar, Brady Martin Farrar, and Boden Reese Farrar, all of Greenville, NC. He was member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and had been a member of Pine Valley Country Club.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Oleander Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service at their residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
