

Carl Graham Gore, 90, of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully January 14, 2019 surrounded by his family. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Carl was born on August 7, 1928 in Columbus County to the late Curtis Ivory and Hattie Faulk Gore. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Smith. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie, his three children, Kimberley Roughton (Jimmy), Gregory Gore and Leah Gore, granddaughters, Heather Roughton and Kelly Roughton, a brother Billy Gore, one niece and several nephews.
Carl retired from the United States Air Force having served 4 years active duty and another 30 years in the Air Force reserves. He was employed by Pine State Dairy in accounting and finance and later the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he retired as Payroll Manager in 1994.
Carl was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors. When not tending his vegetable garden, he could often be found watching his favorite Westerns or brewing a cup of coffee to have with his daily dessert. He also enjoyed traveling which included many trips to his favorite destination, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. A man of strong Christian faith, Carl was a dedicated member of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church for over 50 years where he was an usher, greeter, member of United Methodist Men and served in various capacities on the Church Council, currently as Treasurer. He was known for his quick wit, kind and loving spirit, and always putting others first.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the fellowship hall of Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 409 South Fifth Avenue, Wilmington, NC with the service following at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, 409 South Fifth Avenue, Wilmington, NC, 28401.
