Born on May 29 1936, in New York City, he lived a life marked by his devotion to family. A proud American and veteran of the Korean War Era, graduate of New York University, he later devoted many years as a respected wood shop teacher, sharing his craftsmanship and patience with generations of students. A talented craftsman, he loved working with wood, gardening, music, tennis, coaching softball at UNC, and spending time with those he loved most. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, steady presence and kind and generous heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife Marie Louise Russo; his children, Anthony Russo and Karen and Mark Buzzatto; his grandchildren: Anthony, Harrison, Elena, Danny, Carla and Lily and great-grandchildren: Isabella, Lliam, Bella, Zoe, Mia and Baby Clemmens.
A Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 26, 2026 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 209 Lumina Ave. S., Wrightsville Beach, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers.
