Carolyn Crawford

Ann Carolyn Crawford, 77, of Castle Hayne, affectionately known as “Carolyn”, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Carolyn was born May 17, 1943 in Fairmont, NC, a daughter of the late Jasper Harley Hardin and Virginia Simmons Hardin. Carolyn’s husband, the love of her life, the sugar and cream in her coffee, Richard Crawford, Sr., preceded her death on January 2, 2006.

She is survived by her son, Richard Crawford, Jr.; two grandchildren, Abigail Crawford (George) and Carlos Andray Flowers, Jr. (Toyah); great-granddaughter, Reyna Flowers; brother, Jasper Harley Hardin Jr., affectionately known as “Buckwheat”, (Carol); three sisters, Linda Brown (Eugene), Judy Butler (Clifton), and Kathy Flowers (Carlos); two sisters-in-law, Betty Fennel (Jerry), and Bonnie Bloodworth (Tim); a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Terry Adams.

Carolyn retired from Heatcraft after a long productive career there. She really loved her church and church family at Northside Baptist Church. She loved life and she loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, where her help came from. Carolyn loved quilting. She loved her jewelry. She loved dressing, and she loved working in her yard and Lord knows, it showed. Carolyn was a great neighbor and friend, but stayed to herself a lot. She loved to Zumba to stay in shape and meet new people.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Rileys Creek Memorial Cemetery in Rocky Point, NC with Rev. Rob Strickland officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends, at the cemetery, from 1:00pm until the service hour.
