Carolyn "Sue" Young McGinnis

Carolyn “Sue” Young McGinnis, age 80 of Wilmington, NC, went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2022. She was born to Paul Wilbur Young and Nora Juanita Pate Young on September 19, 1941 in Hurricane, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Edward Wayne McGinnis and her siblings: Myrna Mitchell and Paul Young.

Sue loved baking and cooking with everyone and everyone enjoyed her making dishes from scratch. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren as well as watching the Fox News.

The family would like to make a special thanks to the first responders for their care and compassion for Sue; to Morgan Sneeden for helping to care for her; and to Paul for always being by her side and ensuring she had everything she needed.

She is survived by her 4 children: Bryan McGinnis (Mencie), Stan McGinnis (Jean), Paul McGinnis, and Andrea Musilunas (Mik); siblings: Peggy Young Poe (Allen) and Pat Smith; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her close friend, Hilda Reaves.

The Graveside Service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Greenlawn Memorial Park (1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC) with Rev. Floyd Morris officiating. The family will have a private visitation prior to the service.
