

Carolyn had a zest for life and enjoyed many outdoor activities including riding her horse; sunning and boating; gardening and decorating for the holidays; and taking loving care of pets including dogs Winston and Rags; and cats Lilah and Marly.
Carolyn was retired from the NC State Ports Authority on disability. During her lifetime she also worked at DuPont, Siemens, Gould and Schlotzsky's Deli. She was a strong law enforcement supporter. She was a graduate of Hoggard High School where she was a member of the glee club. She attended Cape Fear Presbyterian Church for many years.
She was the daughter of Richard Raymond Loeper of West Chester, PA and Cynthia Smith Loeper of Wilmington, NC. In addition to her son, Tony Croom; Carolyn is survived by her sister, Cynthia Perry (Allen) of Matthews, NC and brother, Richard R. Loeper, Jr. (Barbara) of Lake Tillery, NC. She was loved by niece Meredith Perry (Jim Deerkoski) of Charlotte, NC and nephews Craig Perry (Elana) of Decatur, GA, Landon Loeper (Megan) and Cody Loeper (Justin) both of Charlotte, NC along with grand nieces and nephews Lilah and Asher Perry of Decatur, GA and Lane and Evan Deerkoski of Charlotte, NC.
Carolyn was close to special friends, Wanda Deleo, Rita Grady and Evelyn Fletcher. Special thanks go to the many numerous medical personnel who provided care to her at Novant Health Regional Medical Center, the Zimmer Cancer Center, and Doctors Marte, Hannum, Klein, Williams, Bahamadi. Carolyn was also cared for by Olivia Simmons, PA and staff at Cypress Point Rehabilitation Center including Crystal Brown, Jay, Terry, Kayla and OT/PT.
Memorials may be made to Cape Fear Presbyterian Church or to the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center.
